Frequently asked questions
Got a Question? We'd Love to Help.
Not sure what to expect? Wondering if a tour is right for you? Browse the answers below - and if you don't find what you're looking for, just drop us a line at hello@bathfoodtours.com and we'll get back to you promptly.
What exactly is a Bath Food Tour?
It's a small-group, guided walking tour of Bath led by Chris, a local food writer. We visit some of the city's finest food spots - a mix of well-loved favourites and hidden gems - with tastings along the way. You'll leave full, happy, and knowing Bath in a way most visitors never do.
How much does it cost?
Our pricing varies depending on the tour in question. We offer a variety of options to fit your needs and budget. Please visit the Our Tours for more information.
Can you cater for dietary requirements?
We can generally supply a vegetarian or non-alcoholic alternative. However, the tours have been carefully planned to showcase Bath cuisine, and as such it's not possible to cater for every dietary eventuality. If you are vegetarian or would prefer non-alcoholic options at the stops, please be sure to let us know at hello@bathfoodtours.com after you have booked. For all other queries, please feel free to get in touch.
How much food is included?
With our flagship tour Jane Austen's Cheese Toastie, we think of it as a large lunch. Many of our guests leave carrying takeaway boxes to enjoy later what they couldn't finish on the tour. Our tip? Arrive hungry.
How big are the groups?
We keep our groups deliberately small so every guest gets a personal, unhurried experience. On our public tours, our minimum is two and our maximum is six.
How long do tours last?
Our tours run from between two to three hours. You'll find the maximum time on the tour description. Schedule the maximum figure into your plans, as the actual duration will depend on a number of factors: chattiness of groups, weather, lingering over delicious tarts.
Where do we meet?
Meeting point information will be emailed after you've booked. The tours take place in the compact centre of Bath and are easy to reach on foot from most hotels.
Is the tour suitable for children?
Unfortunately our current crop of tours is only tailored to adults.
Can I book a private tour?
Absolutely. Fill in the form on the Private Tours page and we'll come back to you ASAP.
How do I book?
Head over to our Tours page, choose the tour you'd like, and find an open date. If you have any questions, please email us at hello@bathfoodtours.com. See you soon!
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand plans change. Full refunds are given with 24 hours notice ahead of the commencement of the tour. Further details of our cancellation and refund policy are found on our Terms & Conditions. If you have any concerns over being unable to attend, please email hello@bathfoodtours.com and we'll work with you to try to find a satisfactory solution.
What should I bring or wear?
Comfortable walking shoes are a must - Bath's cobbled streets are beautiful but can be tricky to navigate in heels. Dress for the weather (this is England, so carrying a light layer is rarely a bad idea), and bring your appetite. Everything else is taken care of.
Is it time to really get lunch?
Spaces are limited on our daily walks. Secure your spot to experience the delicious side of Bath's history.
