Bath Food Tours
About Bath food tours
By Chris Allsop, founder
Bath cuisine is more than just a cup of rust-coloured water and a novelty bunn
I’m referring to the famed cup of thermal spring water long quaffed by visitors to the Roman Baths, as well as the buns consumed within “Sally Lunn’s Historic Eating House”.
When the Michelin Guide singled out the city for its flourishing culinary scene, it wasn’t because of Sally Lunn’s bun(n)s.
It’s because Bath sits in Somerset – one of England’s great agricultural counties. The flavoursome local produce arrives fresh and raw to be transformed into vibrant, memorable cuisine by an increasingly sophisticated restaurant scene for a relatively small city.

Who I am
I’m a food and travel journalist published in The Sunday Times, National Geographic Food, and The Guardian, as well as a contributing writer for Culture: the word on cheese in the USA.
I’ve lived in Bath and the surrounding area for most of my life.
I’m also fanatical about good food and drink.
